I live in Diamondhead, MS and am a retired business professional.
I grew up in rural Missouri and have been interested in drawing and painting since childhood. While in high school I pursued all art classes available and entered several water color competitions with the encouragement of my “much admired” art teacher.
I did not follow through with my art passion but instead chose a career in business, however, after moving to the New Orleans area in the early 1980’s, I started taking evening drawing & painting classes at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts and various private classes in oil’s, studying portraiture and landscape. While painting during that period I did several portrait commissions. During the late 1980’s and 1990’s I became consumed with career and would not find time to work on my painting skills until I retired in 2011.
After retirement I began to resume my artistic endeavors, crafting with floral, clays, mixed media, paper and various other media mostly for donations to charities. I finally picked up the paint brushes & palate knives during Covid and started to experiment with acrylics, first pour painting, then experimenting with abstract, and a combination of abstract with drawing’s and finally back to floral and animal portraits. Now with the accumulation of many paintings, I need to make room for some new ones.
